Bongga! That is the first word I can give to describe the Jayesslee concert I attended last night.
Jayesslee is a duo composed of twin sisters Janice & Sonia Lee of Korean descent but born and raised in Australia. They started out doing Youtube covers of beautiful songs such as Tamia’s “Officially Missing You” up to Maroon 5’s “Payphone.”
Surely last night, I admired these two girls all the more because they also showed us their personal music–beautiful melody with equally powerful lyrics/message.
The show started with an AVP greeting from Jayesslee. First set started with a song called, “Jetlag” by Simple Plan.
It was love at first hear! I immediately fell in love with the covers these girls did because most of them are my personal favorites. But just like what Janice & Sonia said last night, they did not choose the songs, the songs chose them.
So when I found that they’re having a concert at the Robinson’s Forum, I just knew that I had to watch them. I tried browsing for some tickets for sale but unfortunately, it was all sold out! I did not give up until the last minute since I love them very much.
One fine Tuesday, I was going through the Facebook wall when I noticed this promotion hosted by the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Philippines (CBTL). They’re giving out tickets to the Jayesslee concert!
The day before I saw this CBTL promo, I had another contest entry for the Philippine Concerts’ website to write a blog entry telling about my favorite Jayesslee cover. They are giving out 2 silver tickets to the said concert. Unfortunately, I did not get them, so I pushed my luck again to join this one from CBTL.
To be honest, I did not really expect much to win since I lost the first contest I joined. But I thought this new one deserves a shot because the instruction was very easy. I just needed to answer some really easy questions and post them on the CBTL FB wall, through the comment box.
“My perfect pair is Caramel Ice Blended and my super favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies! They are one of my favorite comfort foods after being busy with babysitting, blogging and household management. I want to share it with my sister Carly Garcia since she’s the one who introduced me to Jayesslee. We wanna watch it together! And by the way, this is my favorite cover by Jayesslee! Thanks for sharing! :)”
And finally, yesterday morning, I saw this announcement on the CBTL Facebook wall:
I literally jumped for joy after reading this! The next minute, I was already calling up my sister who’s working close to the concert venue and told her the BONGGA news! 🙂
I may not have won those silver tickets but God has the best plan. He gave me VIP tickets! God is really amazing!
Thank you very much to Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf for sending me and my sister to the Jayesslee’s Manila Concert 2012! I had a great time. This kindness means so much to me. (Thanks also to my Mom for babysitting my little Noa.)
I am so happy because they sang most of my favorites like “Breakeven” by The Script, “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz, “Safe and Sound” by Taylor Swift (OST Hunger Games) and “Just The Way You Are” by Bruno Mars.
And for all the Jayessle fans out there, don’t fret. Since God has been so kind to me, I will share a little blessing for you. I recorded most of Jayesslee’s songs last night. You can view them on my Youtube channel.

They ended their performance with another awesome cover from Switchfoot called “Dare You To Move.”
TRIVIA: Sonia’s husband Andy was on drums. 🙂 God bless you, Janice & Sonia! Remain a blessing and an inspiration to all of us. I love you both. 🙂 If you’ve been blessed by Janice and Sonia’s music and talent, you can catch them on the following media: HAHA, stalker mode?) 🙂
