Mommies Who Blog

Yesterday was a pretty busy day for me because I needed to accompany my daughter to Gymboree in Serendra for a birthday party of a good friend’s daughter. I got a Blackberry Message (BBM) from Vee of Soldier Mom’s Corner to check out a local broadsheet because an article has been released with us as the subjects.

It was already late in the afternoon that I took hold of the July 17, 2013 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI). I remember hunting down every newsstand that we pass by since we left Bonifacio Global City (BGC) at around 3PM.

Mommies Who Blog Media Mileage in Print

It was a bit challenging for me to find a newspaper yesterday because the day was already half-through. I took my chances and dropped by the nearest convenience store, 711 for that matter, to see if they still sell PDI. I was very “lucky” because they still have 2 more copies left.

When I got the newspaper, I immediately went home so I could sit down and read the article. It was indeed a very heartwarming and beautifully written post by Ms. Audrey Tan-Zubiri on her column, Mama Diaries, which can be found at Section D1 (Lifestyle Parenting).

The article was about us, mommy bloggers, and our online mommy community, Avenue for Mommies Online (The Mommy Avenue). As one of the founding members, I couldn’t be thankful enough for the opportunity to be featured in Audrey’s column. I feel very blessed and honored to be interviewed by her. I share this media milestone to all the AMO mommies who generously shared their lives, friendship, and even resources to make our support group grow.

This short print stint was noticed by family and friends. Would you believe that I didn’t even “broadcast” this to them? I got several heartwarming messages yesterday via Facebook, mobile and email telling me that they have read about me at the Inquirer. Not only that, this morning, I woke up to a message from Google itself (the owner of Blogger, too). This is an excerpt of the said email:

From the bottom of my mommy heart, I’d like to thank everyone for making this media mileage possible for me and Moomy Musings. Thank you God for allowing us to meet and be friends with a mom like Audrey. Same acknowledgement also goes to the people behind Philippine Daily Inquirer for this rare opportunity you’ve blessed us with.

Thanks to my husband for always being my silent yet ever supportive reader (and editor). To my daughter N, you’re my inspiration for starting up Moomy Musings. To all the mommy and daddy musers, for allowing my own hits and misses to inspire you to become better and informed parents to your children. To all the AMO moms, indeed, motherhood is best travelled with friends.

Cheers to all the Filipino parents who strive to give the best love and care to their children! πŸ™‚
