Day One: My Philips Innovation Experience Singapore 2015

On November 3, 2015, I left Manila for Singapore to grace the Philips Innovation Experience 2015.

It was 9AM and I was already ready to head to the airport for my 3PM flight. I packed and inspected my bag twice since that week of our flight was also a popular week for the “Tanim-Bala” (Planted Bullet) controversy in Manila’s airports. No, I didn’t wrap my luggage with cling wraps. But yes, I attempted to buy a luggage cover the night before just to secure myself from any inconvenience. Anyway, on the day of my flight, I just decided to be more vigilant and to never leave my baggage out of sight.

Fast forward. Obviously, I made it to Singapore’s Changi Airport that day at about 7PM. Thanks to Philippine Airlines for taking us there safely. It was a bumpy 3-hour and 10 minutes flight. To tell you honestly, it was the first flight that made me feel a bit dizzy.

What can I say about Changi Airport? It’s amazing and well-organized. The Internet was also fast so I took advantage of it to take a selfie and share it on social media. I wanted to tell everyone that I arrived in Singapore safe and sound. We didn’t stay long at the airport and drove to where we’re staying.

Our Home in Singapore: Hotel Fort Canning

We were booked to stay at Hotel Fort Canning. It is also the same venue where the Philips Innovation Experience Singapore 2015 would be held.

Hotel Fort Canning is a former military building that is used to be the headquarters of the Malaya Command, built by the Singapore Municipality in the 1920s as a part of a deal to secure the summit of Fort Canning for a new reservoir. This historical building was preserved and restored carefully so it could return to its former glory.

Don’t worry because I will be doing a separate review on Hotel Fort Canning Singapore in the coming days. Here’s a sneak peek of the room I stayed in. In one word, aside from beautiful, I’d stay that the floor plan of my hotel room is extraordinary.

After we’ve checked-in, we freshened up a bit and get ourselves ready for dinner. When in Singapore, don’t miss out trying out their delectable seafood dishes like Pepper or Chili King Crabs! We had our tummy filled at the Jumbo Restaurant at the East Coast Park.

We arrived in Hotel Fort Canning at about midnight. I was exhausted and jet-lagged but it was truly an enjoyable first day of adventure in Singapore.
